Fly-in Walleye Fishing

Considered one of the top Walleye destinations in Ontario!

Beteau Lake Walleye Fishing

Beteau Lake is part of the Attawapiskat River, located about 35 miles downstream from Attawapiskat Lake. The Walleye fishing here is outstanding, making Beteau Lake one of Ontario’s top spots. This is mainly because of its remote location and low fishing pressure. Unlike other camps that are 60 miles south, Beteau Lake offers a unique, peaceful fishing experience. Plus, Ontario’s fishing rules and our catch-and-release policy help keep the Walleye population healthy, giving anglers plenty of chances to catch big fish.

When it comes to fishing conditions, the weather can make a big difference. On a typical day, you can expect to catch 20–50 Walleyes. But on cloudy, rainy, or windy days, the fish tend to be more active, and you might catch 50–75. Some experienced anglers even reel in up to 100 Walleyes in a single day! If you’re new to Walleye fishing, don’t worry—we’ll show you easy techniques and point out the best fishing spots. Whether you’re chasing big numbers or trophy fish, Beteau Lake has it all. Most Walleyes weigh between 2–4 pounds, but catching 5-pounders is common, and some lucky anglers land 10-pound giants. The biggest catch so far? A massive 14-pound, 32.5-inch Walleye. Thanks to our catch-and-release policy, those trophy fish are still out there, waiting for you.

In the spring, Walleyes stay close to shore in just 2–3 feet of water. As summer rolls in, smaller Walleyes (2–3 pounds) move to slightly deeper waters, around 3–5 feet. The bigger ones, usually females, hang out in 8–12 feet of water during the day but move into the shallows in the evening. You’ll often find Walleyes in river bends with currents, near rocky points, or around deep weed beds where they avoid pike. These are the perfect spots to cast your line.

Windsor Lake Walleye Fishing

Windsor Lake is a top Walleye fishing destination, known for both trophy-sized Walleyes and high catch numbers. The area features three large, interconnected bodies of water, providing over 20 miles of prime fishing spots. With an abundance of Walleyes, it’s a fantastic location for anglers of all skill levels.

For those seeking more adventure, narrow channels with flowing currents lead to even more remote lakes. These hidden gems offer even greater opportunities to catch Walleyes, with untouched waters full of fish. Whether you’re fishing in the main lakes or exploring the quieter, secluded areas, Windsor Lake guarantees an unforgettable experience. No matter where you choose to fish, you’ll have access to plenty of great, fish-filled waters, making every moment worthwhile.

Walleye fishing depends on things like the weather, skill, and effort. On a typical day, you can expect to catch about 50 to 75 Walleyes. However, on good days, the number could go up to 75 or even 100, making it an exciting experience.

Most Walleyes you catch will weigh between 2 to 3 pounds, but it’s not uncommon to catch a 5-pounder in a week. While the average size here may be a bit smaller than at Beteau Lake, there are still impressive Walleyes to be found. In fact, guests have even released Walleyes over 27 inches. The shallow lake makes it a great place for both beginners and experienced anglers.

In the summer, Walleyes are usually found near rocks, weeds, or currents. In early spring, they gather along sandy shores, sandbars, or in areas with current, giving you more chances to catch them.

In fact, some lucky anglers stumble upon hotspots where it feels like they’re landing a Walleye with every cast.
